Matt BrownMen's Soccer Takes Game Over Shepherd, 1-0

West Virginia Wesleyan picked up a 1-0 win over conference foe Shepherd. With the win the men are now 10-4-1 and 6-2 in conference play.

Matthew Brown (pictured) scored off a header from Liam Maloney to give the Bobcats a 1-0 win.

The Bobcats travel to Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday for a 2 p.m. matchup.

 

Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Lock Haven, 4-0

West Virginia Wesleyan men’s soccer team dominated Lock Haven University this afternoon, shutting out the visiting Bald Eagles, 4-0. The Bobcats controlled the game, out shooting the Bald Eagles, 21-3.

Another Cat Match Goes OT

Wesleyan seems to love the overtime game this season. Again, Wednesday, it took one overtime for Wesleyan to finally outlast Alderson-Broaddus, 1-0.

Matt Brown scored the winner with seven seconds left in the first extra 10, after Paul Riesthuis pounded a breakaway shot that rebounded off AB's keeper to Brown's foot and an open net.

 

Cold, Wet and Muddy

The Bobcats played 110 minutes to a double-overtime 1-1 tie against Millersville (P.a) on a field that gave up nothing to the soccer cleats.

Matt Brown scored Wesleyan's lone goal on a breakaway early in the match. Millersville tied the game shortly before the half.

 

Wesleyan Stays Perfect at Home

Daniel Smee and Tom Ingall scored back-to-back goals within one minute of each other early in the first half and Jacob Maitland sealed the deal in the final 10 to lead the Bobcats to a 3-1 victory over conference opponent Seton Hill, Wednesday.

Bobcats Top Eagles 1-0 in Conference Showdown

West Virginia Wesleyan men’s soccer team was in action this evening against conference rival, University of Charleston. After 90 minutes of competition, the Bobcats came up on top with a final score of 1-0.

The lone goal of the game came fifteen minutes into the second half when junior, Tom Ingall (pictured), found the ball fifteen yards in front of the goal, nailed it past a pack of defenders and the goalie, and into the net.

Sluggish Second Half Turns Golden

Matt BrownBobcat captain Daniel Smee blasted a 20-yard free kick with less than three minutes left in regulation to propel the Wesleyan 'Cats to a 2-1 victory over Gannon University and a 2-0 start to the 2011 season.

A lackluster Bobcat performance out of the halftime break allowed the Golden Knights (Gannon) to tie the match 1-1 in the 57th minute.

Wesleyan goalie, senior Ryan McDougall recorded six saves, the majority of them late in the match to keep the Bobcats in contention.

Wesleyan got on the board in the 27th minute when freshman Paul Riesthuis scored his second goal of the season in as many games.

 

 

 

 

Men’s Soccer Wins Home Opener 1-0

The men’s soccer team won their home opener this evening in overtime against the visiting University of Southern Indiana. After two scoreless halves, the teams went into a grueling overtime battle where the Bobcats came out on top, winning 1-0.

The lone goal was scored by freshman, Paul Riesthuis (pictured), merely 6:30 seconds into the overtime period. Freshman, Mike Geiselhart, recorded the assist. Riesthuis led the offense for Wesleyan with a total of two shots on goal for the evening.

In the goal for the Bobcats was senior, Ryan McDougall. McDougall had a total of five saves while tending.

Wesleyan men’s soccer is next in action this coming Sunday, September 4, as they take on Gannon University. The game is on their home field and is set to kick off at 1:00 p.m.

 

 

 

Bobcats Picked To Share Men's Soccer Title

Coach Gavin Donaldson and the West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team have been voted to share the conference title as voted on by the coaches. WVWC and the University of Charleston each garnered 95 points and received five fist place votes.Davis & Elkins was voted third with 66 points.
